So the clutch releases sooner. Also the clutch disk is thinner because of wear. Since your clutch did not release, I would say the pilot bearing has failed causing the shaft to keep rotating. I also was not too clear on your comment about problems shifting from one range to the other range. Does the transmission imput shaft have any endplay? If so repair it while the engine is out. Schwiebert, 11-22-2012 04:29:10   well its all apart now. actually the pilot bearing was good, but for $7 will get a new one. there is still some flywheel side paint markings on the clutch, it seems quite good. lots of wear on the pressure plate fingers. definately needs a new pressure plate and will also get a new throught bearing. i did not chech tranny input shaft end play. thanks for all the help.
