Whtie 2-70 with Loader

I just purchased a White 2-70 that has a quick detach loader. The hydraulics for the loader plumb to the case under the seat on the left side. The only way the loader works is when one of the levers for one of the remotes is actuated (not centered). This doesn't seem right. What if you want something connected to the remote and you want to use the loader? It looks like it has been connected that way for a long time.

Is there a better way to connect this where it can get hydraulics without needing to actuate one of the remotes? Any ideas would be appreciated.

   The system is not plumbed properly.   The system should be plumbed for "power Beyond".  We need to know what kind of valve you have and we can help you.
   There is an Instruction Bulletin that outlines how to do this. I can post a copy again, however will not be able to do so until tomorrow.
 
Bill - there was a post some time ago (could be a couple of years ago) that had pictures and everything. I don't know if there is a way to recover that from archives??
The 2-70 is the same as my 1655. The case under the seat on the left side is the right place for the plumbing. If I remember right, I think there is a port that has to be plugged with a 3/8" (I think) pipe plug. Sounds like you might need to unscrew the hose coming out of the left side of the case under the seat and see whats going on in there.
 
That's what I'm thinking. It would be the hose that comes straight forward under the seat. Reach back in there with a small screwdriver or something. If you feel threads back in there,the plug isn't in there. It's a few inches back there,so get in there deep. If it's not there,get a 3/8ths (or maybe it's a 1/4,I forget) plug that uses an allen wrench. Stick it on the end of the wrench and screw it in to the threads.

Don't know if that's gonna be it or not,don't know how it'll act without that plug in there,but that's what I'd check.
A tip though,don't ever start the tractor with that plug in there without running a jumper hose back in to the inlet if you take the loader off. There's nowhere for that oil to go with the plug in back there except out the front where your loader hose hooks.
 
All the comments really help - I wish I could review the archives all the way to the very beginning of the forum. These forums are full of valuable information. Not sure how to do that.

I will pull the plumbing off tomorrow and see if I can figure it out. I have the operators manual, but it doesn't go into any detail on this. The valve assembly for the loader is just a simple three valve assembly. One each for up, tilt, and a grapple.

Thank you so much for the recent posts! This is what I needed. I have a two port valve assembly, and it currently is plumbed to the bypass port for the input and the exhaust port for the return. Like I said, it's been that way for a long time. I can't believe the previous owners used it that way.

When I purchased this tractor, I got the original operators manual, parts manual, and the manual for the 1730 loader. I am pretty sure it was equipped with the loader when it was new because all three manuals appear to have been released in the same year (1979), and they look like they have been together from the beginning.

I just rebuilt one of the battery boxes today, and purchased new batteries for it. Looking forward to getting it all operating correctly (at least correctly from my point of view). Has anyone ever attempted to put a foot throttle on one of these? I plan on using this tractor with a bale grapple to load out hay and was thinking a it would be nice if it had a foot pedal to control the engine speed.

I started to fab up a foot throttle for my 1600 loader tractor. Got the pedal made with linkage across to the left side,but I couldn't figure out how to hook it to the governor without unhooking the hand throttle. I think you'd have to have something that slides over the lever linkage to make it work right,but I lost interest before I figured that part out.
