Losing Hydraulic Fluid

I have a 1755 Oliver that is losing hydraulic fluid to the gear oil compartment. I have no idea where else it could go. Maybe someone can fill me in on other possibilities.

I want to fix this. I have put this problem out there before, but I seem to only get responses for fixes that work as long as you don't use the PTO.

I put at least a gallon in the hydraulic compartment some time ago to bring it up to the proper level. I used the tractor for a total of 2 hours, maybe less, spreading manure. That happened a few weeks ago. Today I went over and checked the dipstick and the fluid doesn't even make it to the bottom of the stick.

Like I said, I want to fix this. I want to use this tractor next spring for around 30 hours of plowing to pull the disc around to get some hay fields planted and would prefer the hydraulic oil stays where it is supposed to. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you loose the fluid when (if) you blocked off the PTO? If you did not you need to drain the rear enf and pull the PTO and reseal the PTO clutch & brake. Those seals have been updated more than once.

I have to done anything back there.

When you say block off the PTO, are you talking about that little tube that goes from the hydraulic compartment to the PTO?

Would that be my first step, blocking off that tube?

Thanks

the pto clutch packings are the most likly culprit, but there is a stamped sheet plate between hyd. compartment and trans. rearend housing that can get stress cracked or the bullgear can move and rub a hole in it. Also those closed center hyd. systems can generate tons of heat and cook the main pump shaft seal I always replace them if the system has much time on it from previous repairs.

yes block off the long one that runs up under the floor boards that is the pressure line to the pto control valve,if it cures your problem than you likely need a quad ring kit for the pto

Thanks for the help. I'll block that off and see what happens.

Where do you get a quad ring kit?

Is that a major project to take care of?

Thanks again.
