Cletrac, Model ????

Have this Cletrac on the yard. Ran 2 years ago when parked for yard art. It is OD green under the yellow paint. I can make out the first 3 numbers of the USA (United States Army) registation number on the hood. There is a date of 30 Dec 48 stenciled on the hood. Has rubber track pads. I think it's a artillary tractor but was not able to find a Cletrac artillary tractor in the 40's or 50's. No data plate. Has a big IL flat 6, Automatic cab with Oliver stenciled across the back. The brackets that are mounted on the side indicate it must have been used as a cable layer in it's later life. So what is it??? The owner passed away and the widow don't want it around any longer, so it's for sale. (719) 440-1105

Appears to be a modified Cletrac M2 as built for the US military during WWII. The Army Air Force used it as a heavy tug to tow large aircraft. It was equipped with various accessories such as an air compressor and large generator. There is one on display at the Air Force Museum near Dayton Ohio. Much of the power train was same as the Cletrac BG crawler.
