differences in 453T piston/liner kits

Hey guys trying to identify the differences between piston/liner kits for a 453T.
I'm guessing the ones for the 453N are 21:1 compression. There are two different ones listed for the 453T that are a cross-head turbo piston. Anyone know what the differences are?

I took my 53 series parts & shop manual to work so I can not look. I might go to work tomorrow, depends if both my employer and I can shell corn tomorrow. We have a 1900 to work on once we get caught up. Anyhow I looked those sets up and I looked up a Clevite set up. There is a difference in bowl design and your brand & the Clevite set use different pin sizes. Also it said to give a serial number. Your engine number if the original engine for an Oliver will not have a Turbocharge engine serial number. Do you have the engine apart and all measured up?

There are actually several differences in 4-53 x-head pistons, probably the 2 that you are looking at are pin diameters and port heights. The more expensive kit probably includes new bushings and pin caps for the larger diameter.

I usually use the .002" oversize liner on engines with high hours. You really need to know whether you have a former, current or silver style 4-53T. Your engine serial number will tell you this. The model number will look like this XXXX-X3XX. The 3 means turbo charged. Most good parts houses will give you the exact replacement with these numbers.

Also remember that you need to match your piston crown shape with the correct injector nozzle configuration. I have worked on several engines where the owners have tossed in huge 92 series injectors. All they have done is make lots of black smoke and totally whacked their hp and torque curve.

He is talking 53 series, not 71 series. The liners come in stanadrd and 10 over, not 2 over. I agree make sure the block has not pitted and the top half is in alignment with the bottom half, if not it will need to be fit for the 10 over liners

Over time, the dry section of the 53 series liner/block can wear so DD makes a .002" over to compensate for wear without boring. These liners will be marked "STD No. 2". And when you get into the oversizes that actually require boring, the more common are 10 and 20 over.

John I'm working on the engine in our C65 Chevy grain truck. The engine is caked in grease so I'm thinking I'll have to pull the engine to get my ser# and exact measurements. I wasn't sure who else to ask and this Oliver forum has been very helpful when I worked on my 1950gm. Just trying to plan ahead and the different liner kits caught me by surprise. I figured the only difference would've been turbo or N series.
