Super 88 more power

I mentioned in an earlier post about changing gears in the transmission of my 88 for more pulling power. Johns replied to focus on the engine rather than the transmission. He said get 3 7/8 pistons, carb and manifold from a 1650. I have the pistons, but will need to get carb & manifold. Will this be a problem to replace original manifold & carb with ones from a 1650?

The 1650 manifold will bolt up to your head without any issues. If your using this tractor for strictly pulling a late 1650 or 1655 head would help raise your compression and they also have larger ports and canted valves.
