I looked ata 1650 gas last weekend while helping a guy load a round baler on his trailer with it. I mentioned it on here if anyone was interested, and gave the list of what needed attention, what was good, etc...
In your opinions what is it's true value? The nice thing was it had almost new tires on it, and it still had the top link.
The cons were alot of other small things but would make a parts bill go over $1000 really quickly
The brakes were oil soaked so not much strength.
Hyd. oil was low without any sign of external leaks, so gives me concern the pump is shot just like I did to my 1600 this summer.
The clutch seems to be out of adjustment. Hopefully that's all.
Exhaust manifold has bad threads, and the pipe was welded once and then the weld broke. The pipe was really wabbly.
Burns some oil so a rebuild is in it's future.
She's asking $4000, would take $3800. I told her that with everything wrong with it, being a gas, and even with new tires, it's really only worth maybe $2500. I could see it possibly bringing $3000, but not likely in my eyes.
My brother came home from Memphis and said he'd check it out if she came down so I called her up and her son called back (lives closer at this point) and said she still has to have $3800. I just politely said thanks, but not really interested for the price.
Just wondering if I'm off base, or if that 1650 is gonna sit for a while longer yet. She's had it on Craigslist all summer and hasn't had much if any interest. Lots of Ollies tucked away in sheds (and earnig their keep) around here too, so it's not like they're an odd duck.
My brother has been going back and forth with a guy on a rebuilt 880 deisel that is asking around $5000. It's really about all the bigger he needs, plus it's already fixed up and it's a deisel. A 1650 would be nice around the farm, but another gasser would sit about as much as my 1600 gasser does now.
