Hi my name is Kevin I have had its around a 54 super 88 gas
job. I bushhoged with a couple of months ago and haven't
ran it until this weekend it acted as if there was a little dirt or
water in the gas finely got it running and saw oil paying out of
the front end started to investigate found three big holes in
the governor housing what would cause that housing to
explode looking on li e and all I see was a 77 housing most
places don't show any governor part does anybody know
were I can get the parts thanks.

Kevin,
I recently restored an 880 with a gas engine. After all the work was done and we put the parts back together, the engine would not run without hesitation and sputters between 1500 and 1800 rpm. We had just rebuilt the carb and looked at the gov. for clues. Sure enough, the weights were wobboling on the set pins and actually hitting the gov. housing. We installed new weights and pins. The rough idle, hesitation and engine coughing was gone. Who would have thought it was the governor?
