Cockshutt question

Just out of curiousity,I would like to know wy Cockshutt made tractors with different names on them. What is the story behind the Blackhawk, Co-op, and the Gambles Farmcrest? Does anyone know? Thanks

Blackhawk came about as a US brand due to their equipment manufacturing plant in Belllevue, Ohio. Co-Op and Gambles wanted the tractors branded under their names. The same thing was done for the Co-Op dealers in Western Canada. Cockshutt made equipment was not sold exclusively by Cockshutt dealears.

I believe that Canadian Co-ops were called CCIL and you can still find the odd CCIL 570 for sale in western Canada.
Andy; I see your name mentioned in the book "Cockshutt - The Complete Story" in regards to tracking down the lone Cockshutt 580. That must have been a thrilling experience. Have you thought about writing that story down?

Andy, were was the 580 found. Here in the UK Perkins fitted a 6.354 in a Cockshutt tractor then when they had finished with it they left it on the farm were they had tested it. I asked about this a few years ago but could not remember the model number. MJ
