Happy Anniversary too you both. Nice looking Super 55. I could never get my wife on a tractor.
Still a city girl.
See the colors are turn fast up your way. Mike

Have you started shelling corn up there Yet? Down here in the lowest part of MI. Where just off US127 out 8 miles north of Ohio/Michigan line they"ve started this week on dads farm. Moister was around 20% but the biggest problem they said the small ears was going right on thru the corn head onto the ground.
Never ran the new style JD combines they have out now. Like being in a cadillac. Last big combine I ran was a 7720.
Computor he had in combine was figuring around 150 bushel to the acre on dads. To me thats good.
I was surprized. We had rain off an on but if you was to 30 mile east of here toward Adrian MI.
Some of the corn in that area bearly made it up to 3 foot high w/no ears. Soybeans so are combining it. Moister around 18 % but was having problems with the pods cracking open and fall on the ground before it got to the head.
Been very dry around here. Next door neighbor took his beans off last and drill wheat and I see it up already.

There's a little bit of shelling going on. I'm going to start picking and cribbing tomorrow. I don't know what the actual moisture is,but I picked a few ears today and it's as hard and dry as the little bit of old stuff left in the crib. The cob's even bone dry. I doubt it's over 15-16 if it's even that high.

Looks good. I have one identical, same incorect paint and everything. I have just over 200 acres of corn combined so far. With the dry weather, and hail dammage, the ears are falling off the stalks, so I'm taking it off. Moisture is running in the low 20s. Might better pay for drying then to let it lay on the ground. I started running soy beans on Friday. Got about 165 acres done. Averaging 12% moisture.

I had ears dropping like flies when I was chopping. I hope they hang on a little better when I hit'em with the picker. Or at least fall IN to it instead of on the ground. My corn isn't even waxy yellow anymore though. Getting that white color to it.

Our corn when I was chopping was still holding the ears pretty good, although they were definately pointed down to the ground and threatening to drop...

Quite a few 2 cob stalks that I could see too. Our neighbor who sells the seed said we should sell what didn't fit in the bag. We just smiled and found another 50' chunk of bag and we'll be smiling when we have corn next August yet. He said the same thing last year too, except that we should shell some of it instead of chopping it all. The field that was the latest planting, and only non-silage specific hybrid, was the first one we chopped as it was the dryest one we had. Shoulda seen the way he acted when we told him what we decided to do with OUR corn.

The last few years it's become a little more enjoyable to farm again. Even this year with the extremely dry weather. I think we gotta replace the shares on our plow (probably shins too, and a busted cover board)
