Non-op Olivers worth?

I have an opportunity to pick up a couple old Olivers from a friend of mine. One is a 66 and the other is an 88 high crop. Both have wide front ends, neither runs (both need parts).

Are these machines worth buying? The owner (well, his mother) wants 2 grand apiece.

What are they worth as-is? Are they worth buying and parting out?

not running ,scrap price is all I would offer unless you have looked at them and it's a simple fix . they can be nice tractors but not worth a lot . I know of a restored 66 with a beautiful paint job , overhauled engine for 4k but has had no takers in the last two years .

Joe the 66 really depends on how it looks and how complete it is. Now the 88 is another story. If it is areal high crop its worth a lot more but again overall shape will depend. I'm in Cal also. Email me if you need more info. Good luck

like everyone else says there are certain factors taht need to apply. the 66 would bring the lowest. if it is rough and hard to fix worth scrap, maybe a little more with the wide front. the 88 hi-crop is a different story. appearance is the biggest factor for this one. if it is really rough then around 1,000 yet if it is decent then it would be worth at least 2,000. hope this helps a little.

The 88 needs a clutch I think. The person who owned/worked on them passed away, so no one really knows all the machines needs. I deduce this based on the fact the bolts are all loose and/or out of it.

The 66 is missing the carb and other various parts.

The 88 High Crop should be fairly valuable if all of the high crop parts are factory, are there, and are not welded. They are rare and very desireable. Make sure it doesn't go for scrap.
