Having problems with the 880 I just restored for the neighbor, you can open the throttle up slowly but cannot rip it open without it coughing and dying. Our local Oliver mechanic said I probly lost the brass thrust bushing that goes between the gov and block when I took the gov off to replace gaskets but when I pulled it apart now there are two bushings in there and the weights are hitting on the cover when they fly wide open.
I need to replace the weights but wondering if this will solve my problem or if there is more I am missing??Thanks guys, Mitch

| sounds like it"s too lean, could need adjusted or a carb kit/cleaning. if you pull the choke out a little and it revs up ok, your lean.

| I'd take one of those out,but I don't think the governor has anything to do with having to throttle it up slowly.

| Alright, unhook the rod that goes from the carburetor from the governor at the governor. Have someone start the tractor or use a remote starter, then move the rod and see if he hesitation stays or no. I am thinking there is some dirt in the Zenith carburetor. Also why are the weights hitting the governor case? There is too much movement. Take a good look at the thrust bearing, the pins in the governor or see if the shaft is loose in the governor.

| I didnt think so either but thats what the other guy told me. Just like any tractor when its cold you cant rip it open but this dont go away when it warms up.
