Duane, In the last issue of Oliver Heritage magazine Larry Gay said that in 1972 White was coming out with a model 1455 tractor. Larry is usually correct when he says such things. I assume it would have been based on a FIAT model. I know about the 1450, the 1465, the 1470, and the 700 White, but I had never heard of a 1455. My question is: do you know anything about that model of tractor? Did they ever sell any, and do you have any advertising on it? Thanks |

| | I do not have any knowledge of a model 1455. Look at the models; the 1450 had been discontinued in 1969. In 1970 they had the 1255 & 1355 and continued those models into 71. The company updated the 12 & 13 to 1265 & 1365 in mid year. My guess is that they had evaluated the Fiat model that was to become the 1455, however the model was changed 1465 to match the 12 & 13 versions. Just a guess on my part as we in the field did not know all the things that were being planned in Engineering & Marketing. The Fiat manufactured tractors were a very good product, in fact they were our lowest warranty expense tractors. The 1450 simply did not match the other Fiat tractors in engine reliability, thus care was taken to be sure the future tractor of that size was a good product, again just a guess. |
