Have been looking for an engine for my cockshutt 20 puller,,found this engine in an old massey 30 The engine tag says DIVCO CORPORATION SUPER 4162 what does the super designate I know its a F 162 why would there tag be on this engine as they built milk trucks and such!!And why is the oil fill spout so high up on the engine I have seen a lot of these engines and have never seen an oil spout this high on a continental F 162 140 or a 124??

Downey: I didn't mean to sound negative about what might be a perfectly good engine..."Super" implies higher output, stronger const, increased longevity, something or somethings that might be helpful in pulling...
While very few of my parts catalogs list the Super, that doesn't really mean much...
A couple places you could check for more info, parts availability etc are:
Garrad (Gerry/Jerry) Moon at Monte's in Chicago (old Cont'l parts dealers) montesequipment.com or garradmoon@montes@flash.net--he's highly regarded as helpful;
PA Ross Machinery in Dallas (Cont'l dealer helpful with older models) parossmachinery.com. Good luck.

(1) Yes, Divco built Milk Trucks, but not engines; they used stock engines, like yours;
(2) the Super F4162, per a 68 bearing catalog, had larger crank journals; there may be other differences;
(3) Cont'l usage of the time was F4162 for "automotive" version (trucks etc) with a timing chain, F162 for the "industrial" version (ag, const etc) and PF 162 for the free standing power unit version (the ind's and pu's have timing gears);
(4) there're also F4162C and LF162 versions, but I have no idea what they are--and maybe more that're not in the catalogs I checked.
With sympathy, Bud
