Got that 770 home. It starts and runs. The distributor looks kind of cruddy, so I will do the points before I really use it. In general it looks good-- The pto lever does slip out-- previous owner had a strap to hold it in gear. That's fine to start but is there a way to adjust/fix? Thanks |

| 4 bolts in the bottom of the cast cover where the lever goes in. Take it off and you'll see 3 sets of 2 bolts. Loosen them and take out a shim or 2 from each set. |

| | rrlund-- I got that cover off and took two shims off each, as you stated. I had a little trouble getting the cover back on-- making everything match up. It still pops out-- if anything, it seems a little worse. It used to have a feeling of going in gear--- not quite a snap but a click. Now it will engage if you hold the lever forward but there is nothing to hold it there. Have I done something wrong? Should I be adding shims instead of taking away? Thanks for any help-- |

| Sounds like it isn't going in over center now. If you took out too many it would do that. Try putting some back in. |
