My poor tractor luck this week continues. MF 245 front axle pivot is shot, Oliver 550 power steering ram broke (it's now fixed) and when I pull the Super 55 out to change the oil so we can go to the show next weekend I find the crankcase completely filled with diesel. From what I've read that means I need the injection pump rebuilt. It is an American Bosch pump. Any idea on what the cost of a rebuild is likely to be? Probably can't get it done before next Friday so it may just need to go as is. It will only drive onto and off of the trailer so it won't be running very long.

cheif, try Jacks small engine, 877-737-2787 or google them. they list 2 one is for gas application and the don't say what the other one is for ,gas or diesel, but that it fits 550,77,770, 880 etc. all the waukesha engines take the same pump. bought for a 1855 gas and it works fine on my 77. you need one for a diesel as the gas pump only makes 5-7 lbs. psi. good luck, chuck

The reason for replacement is that I've been into this one before. The moon shaped piece that runs against the cam shaft was broken in half. I made one out of a nut at the time. Not sure how long that thing will last. I did put a kit in it and will do so again I guess if I can't find a new one. Hard to believe they don't exist. I'm sure there was more than one application for that pump. I'll give the guy at AGCO a couple of days to see what he can come up with though he didn't seem too motivated.

I was at AGCO this morning. They can find the lift pump rebuild kit but couldn't come up with a new lift pump. He's going to continue to research it. If anyone has a part number for a new pump or a cross reference I'd sure appreciate it.

They're hard to find.

Curious why you would want a new one, rather that just rebuilding the old one.

When my lift pump went out, I put an electric fuel pump on my 550 diesel- worked fine, but when I re-do the tractor this winter, plan to rebuild the old pump and put it back on.

Chief, it could be the lift pump thats leaking into the crankcase, i would check that first, chuck

That sure could be a possibility. I had trouble with the lift pump when I first got it. Finally made it work (the tractor ran). I couldn't at the time find a replacement. Any idea where I could buy a new lift pump for it?

The problem is most likely the diaphragm in the lift pump that is torn and that allows fuel to fill the crankcase. That is the most common thing that lets fuel into the crankcase. If it has the original style AC sediment bowl type lift pump then you can get a rebuild kit for it. Korves Oliver parts is the only place I have found this kit. I have ordered several over the years to rebuild my old lift pumps. It is really a two hour job if you take your time. Cooop
