1850 FWD Lube Question

I have a '66 1850 MFWD with a Clark front end. It calls for No.1 grade multi-purpose lithium base grease in the knuckle joint housing. What is the modern equivalent? Thanks, PK.

The modern equivalent would be No.1 grade multi-purpose lithium base grease. Things haven't changed in the grease world. :) The "no.1" would refer to an NLGI number and in this case would be a NLGI 1.

If in doubt, you can go to mcmaster.com and select several Mobil or Shell lithium greases that have an NLGI of 1. The only thing I would caution is if there are ball bearings or needle bearings in the area you are rebuilding to stay away from any of the moly fortified greases. Moly is more suited for plain bearings or sliding joints.

Oh sure, bring that up! Anyhow thanks for the information. I used it to google up a bunch of great info on grease. Thanks again, PK.
