I got the motor and Hydra Power in the 1850 at 4:30 this afternoon. It turned into a little bit longer process than I had planned. All I intended to do was pull the hydra power and put in a used one I bought with new sprockets on it.I got the motor out on 5/28. In the process of taking the old one out, the oil pan got cracked. So, I found a used one but it needed the threads for the dipstick refreshed. Finally got that done, the rear main looked like it had been leaking a little, so I replaced the seal and gasket. The steering leaked oil out the bottom of the steering unit, so I ordered a kit and put new seals and Quad ring in it. The tilt for the steering wheel had never worked since I had it, so I took that apart and got it fixed, also. In the mean time, I sprayed corn once, beans twice, got put back on overtime at work and went to see kids and grandkids a couple of times. Oh, yea, it's been hotter than blazes also. Now to get it back together before Friday so I can take it on a tractor ride Saturday. Everything I do takes a lot longer than I plan on, wonder why??? Chris |

I have a Perkins sitting on the garage floor right now. If I send it to you, would you consider rebuilding it and sending it back to me looking like yours does in this pic?:)

Yes, but at the rate I'm going, it might take a couple of years to get finished. Chris

I have never been around Oliver tractors. Why is there a sprocket on the end of the transmission set up? Are the rear wheels driven by a roller chain?

Look at the first picture. See the chain sprocket on the rear of the Hydra Power drive unit. There is a matching sprocket on the shaft going into the transmission. A double roller chain connects the transmission to the motor and Hydra Power unit. To work on motor or change the clutch, you pull the entire motor and Hydra Power unit, NOT split the tractor. I didn't design it, I just use it. Chris

That's not even what I want to hear. I've gotta head out this morning and take that top off the 1550 and rebuild the 3pt cylinder. Guess I don't have much else going on all week, but I hoped I'd at least have it back together by tomorrow sometime.
