It's a gas motor so it must be a 283 or 310. Anyway to tell which it is visually from the outside?

You related to Superman, you know X-ray vision, by the way I think you asked about some part numbers the other day? 3 of them are not good numbers. I did have them checked as what tractors they fit if my list is still here I can tell you.. Do you have an engine serial number? How about a carburetor model.

One of the numbers + your engine serial number does not match up for a 1750. You have a phone number?

That is a very early 1750 gas block. At least a 50 series.

IF it has an open side for the distributor with no cap there than it truly is a gas and I'm positive that only 1750 gas engines were 310s. The last of the 1800 diesel 283 were the first diesels used in 1750s and stayed in the 1650s. Then later they started using the 310 diesels in 1750s. If you have the cam or the crank or the flywheel that came with the block we can tell from those part numbers too.

You are all mixed up.No 283 diesel let alone an engine with a Lanova head was used in a 1750. The only 1800 diesel with a 283 were the A series tractors. Don't forget 1650 tractors were built already in 1964 while 1750 tractors were not built till the summer of 1966

Well regardless of cubic inch or fuel system I can confirm that block cam out of a 1750. I don"t claim to be an expert but my parts book tells me what the block and flywheel is for. I didn"t mean to stir the pot.

The 158 544A was first used in the 1650 diesel and compared to blocks older than 158 544A that it has the pad cast on the block to mount an alternator.Remember the oldest 1750 is 2 years newer than the oldest 1650 diesel.

Ok John I stand corrected. That block also used in the 1650s as diesels also.

The 1750 gas engines were 283 and the diesel was 310. The 1850 and 1855 gas engines were 310.

The 1800 Diesel engines were not direct injection engines like the 1750. To my recollection, the 1750 came out approximately the same time as the 1950-T, both 310 Diesel engines, 1750 as Naturally aspirated and the 1950-T being turbocharged.
The gas 1750's were 283 engines.
There was a gap of a couple years between the 1800 and 1750 models.
