I got the pump & top cover bolted down. Had a hell of a time getting the pto shaft to slide back on & 2 of the 3 bolts will start, the other is a quarter off. I went to put the shift cover with the stick in & it doesn't bolt up. Seem the hydraulic top is different from the mechanic lift top. What were they thinking when they changed that? Anyone got a different top I can get. & I need a fill plug that goes on the right front corner.

rob, sounds like you don't have the shifter i right. with it in gear and you let the clutch out does the drive shaft spin? if it does you don't have the shifter in right. chuck

I took the 3 bolt off, not the 2 from the housing.

rob, the plate that holds the pto has a drain hole in it that must face down, then the hole should line up. did you just take out the 3 bolts that hold the pto in or did you remove the pto gearbox to? if you did remove the gearbox you need to leave it finger tight til you get the pto shaft in place as the bearing lines up, the gearbox with the rear end housing. if you force the pto in and the housing are not lined up you will ruin the bearing. the shifter base is whats different. that's the part with the 2 bolts in it that holds the shifter in, you will need to get the correct one. hope this helps, chuck

Everything is bolted up and ready to go. I took the dewalt
grinder with the cut off wheel to shorten the shaft that once
drove the mechanical lift. Flushed the transmission out with
deisel fuel & drained it. I then reinstalled the pto shaft, had
anther guy with a wrench on the crank to turn the engine as I
was pushing the shaft into the splines of the clutch. I crossed
my fingers after the rear of the tractor was assembled back
together & the oil from the transmission was strained &
dumped back into the tractor.

Before I even started this adventure if I will say that, I noted
where the gear lever was before taking it out. I had a hard time
getting it back in, so I was able to get both the top & bottom
ranges of the 6-speed transmission. I never started the tractor
till the lever felt like it was in the right spot & was able to go
thru the gears without a problems as it was before. With the
gear lever in position, I started the tractor to see how
everything sounded & try pulling forward. With the clutch
down, I selected a gear, all it did was grind. I shut the engine
off & started it in gear. It didn"t move with the clutch down,
been when released, it would move, but sound like the gears
were not meshing with each other. I shut the engine off & went
to the house frustrated. Definitely going to loose some sleep
tonight thinking about what I did wrong.

The tractor worked fine before I even started this project. If
hopes of making it more resourceful, I think I just created
another headache. Could I have damaged the throw out
bearing when I put the pto shaft back in? The pto works fine.
Help!!!

With the transmission shaft still in ,the throwout bearing is not exposed and should be ok.
