I purchased a Oliver tractor with henry loader and backhoe. This tractor does not run right this second and to be honest I have not tried starting it yet. The person I bought it from got it from a friend of his and decided to part with it. The gentleman told me it was a diesel. I am sort of questioning that. From looking at the tractor the right side looks to be what is a glow plug or some sort of wire threaded into block. I would say towards the rear mid to top section. The battery in the machine is very large looks like more for a diesel tractor than a gas. so those are why I suspect it was a diesel. This machine has no injection pump, it has a updraft carburator on right side of block. I have the information from the SN# tag it says its a Specifications Number 15-0116 and serial numberf 37 502 - 518 The starter sn# is 5H18 the model #1107147 Delco Remy. I want to make sure I get and know all the info needed before trying to fire this beast up. It's actually in great condition minus the bellhousing where front axle arms come back to looks like sway bars or somthing BAD DESIGN, Bell's cracked bad both sides. Any help would be great as I saved this girl from the scrap yard. Thankyou !

How bad of a job was it. I am assuming the tractor has to be split, might as well do a clutch and seal while in there. I need to find some info on Henry loaders also. I want to pull the plugs and make sure motors free , then off comes the loader.

Thanks for the help. I had a 45 deere that used to start off gas and switch to fuel it was carbureator, this is my first Oliver so was not sure how the old ones worked. Figures it would have a injection pump and glow plugs instead of spark plugs but was not positive. This machine I got the guy I got it from knew nothing about tractors so he was going to scrap it. Needless to say I got it for a 1000.00 so now to get a charge on the battery pull the plugs, clean carb, check oil and try to turn it over. I think it is not to long ago they stopped running it the cylinders for the hydraulic arms a spotless no surface rust at all. Any advice on dealing with a machine that you are unsure runs would be great.

Carburetor = gas

Your "glow plug" is actually the probe for the water temperature gauge. It is screwed into the water jacket in the head.

Well if it has a carb, it is not a diesel. That housing that is cracked can be welded or you could check with Kent Gordon, (he keeps an eye on the page) to see if he has a good one. The serial number makes it a 1956. On that piece that is cracked, see if the casting number has an A as a suffix. They beefed it up. The A is the later part number. It's going to be 1E-599, 1E-599-A, or 1EA-599-A frame center.

My original piece was cracked and welded by a previous owner. I happened to find a replacement with the A suffix. Kent parts out lots of Super 55s.I have gotten parts from him in the past.
