Billet-boy,
I just have that Operator's Manual #S1-4-10 issued 1-23-59. On pages 1-18 thru 1-21, if the last two digets of the tractor serial number (bottom number 00-000-000) are 73 you have an 880 Row Crop with 10/47 beveled gears and Power Booster? If so on page 1-21 your ground speeds at 1750 rpm, 15.5-38 tires and zero slippage should be:

Direct / Power Booster
1st 2.07 / 1.57 MPH
2nd 2.48 / 1.88
3rd 3.85 / 2.92
4th 4.62 / 3.50
5th 7.00 / 5.31
6th 13.05 / 9.90 MPH

Reverse gears
1st rev 2.40 / 1.82 MPH
2nd rev 4.46 / 3.38 MPH

Do those speeds sound about right for what you have?

Your shift pattern is?

6 R2
N
3 4

5 R1
N
1 2

Hope this helps. If someone else has better information please jump in.

My Super 88 with 14.9x38s and will go about 15mph. I also increased the rpms to get to this speed. My 880 is noticeably slower, due to a couple factors. I think the 880 has lower gearing, and also 15.5s are actually shorter and wider than a 14.9. I'm guessing an 880 is probably 12-14 mph.
