Hyd. oil in transmission

Hi,

A friend has 2-85 getting hyd. oil in the transmission,where to look. I think it can get in from the pan under the rock shaft.Can it also get in from the pto or pump.Need some help to figure this out,Thanks to anyone.

More than likely PTO clutch seals

To find this seal,would he need to remove the pto unit on the rear of the tractor.

Does the oil level go up after sitting or after being run? If after sitting, more than likely it's the pan. If after running, then either the PTO or hydraulic pump. Those rules don't apply 100% of the time, but are generally good to go off of.
