Hershel paint from nnalert

I just got my new nnalert catalog (Now called CT Farm and Country I guess) and see they offer Hershel paint in the early Oliver green, Oliver red and Oliver yellow. Has anyone used this paint? Is it any good? It seems reasonably priced. I have a hard time warming up to spending the $$ for automotive paint for a tractor...It does look awful nice but Id rather spend that money on engine parts or something to make my stuff run better!!

If you use a good Acrylic enamel you will be happy with the results,(clearcoat optional)I've found that after all the prep time to paint, the cost of the final coat is worth the extra $.

I used Van Sickles paint from thefarm store. They had the early green and case red cross refrenced to the oliver red. It turned out good I think it was 25 a gallon. I like to use my tractor so if it gets scratched bad I can buy a spray can and fix it. the hershel paint has a vey simalar logo as van sickles possibly just rebadged.

I don't know about the quality of the paint but I feel about the same as you about the cost of paint on a tactor that will set outside here. You will want to stay away from those rich folks on the paint board. :)^D

CT Farm & Country has been gone for quite a few years now. nnalert sprang up from the salvage parts division that was left after Quality Farm & Country (they bought CT) went broke. Back in the CT Farm days, their paint was made by Iowa Paint. About all I could say for Ia Paint's product was it did cover up bare metal. Unless you kept it inside a dark shed covered with a tarp, it faded bad.
