If you had your choice of Oliver's to restore over 75 horsepower, what would be on your guy's list? I know of an 1800,1950T,and a 1850 mfwd all that could be had- but need resto. I personally am leaning toward the 1850 mainly because of the reputation of the Perkins diesel.Oh and the fact it has mfwd don't hurt either.

Oliver 1655 mfwd. Only rated at 70 hp, but if done right,it would easily qualify. A direct injected Waukesha done right is hard to beat. Just my 2 cents worth.

If you re going to work it that jimmy will make you ears bleed but it is cool. The 1850 4x4 is just plain bad a$$ when all done up with new tires and a load of weights all around. I guess if it was me I would be also having to do some figuring on which one is going to take the most money to restore and hold its value. good luck

The MFWD's are always worth much more than 2WD- go that way, if you can afford it- you'll be money ahead.

Go with the "T" they don't grow on trees and it seems that the 1850's are one of the more common 4x4's around. It's just my opinion but the 1950t's are just a bigger version of a 1655 and make for a nice tractor to use

lots of good options. an 1850FWA would be a sweet one to do if your pockets are deep enough. It would have quite a bit of value. If it were me I would go for a 55 series oliver. (1655,1855,1955)

1950T's are nice too. Lots of good options, if you do it right you can't go wrong.

Go with the 1950T. It is a collectible tractor that if updated properely will be a very reliable machine. If you are set on a mfwd then go with the 1850 I suppose but there were a fair amount of them around. To restore one will be big bucks that you might not get back out of it.

I like the 1950gm and 1950T. The gm has the advantage of the 4-53 detroit, of which parts are plentiful and can be built to make alot more than the 105hp they were rated at. They are also very loud, which I don't mind but if you want a quiet tractor you will love the 310 turbo in the T. If built with the updates it will last a long time and they sound sweet under load. Most but not all T's also had the over/under hydraul shift(3 speed). Check to see if T for sale has it, if so that would be my choice. The GM was only offered with the two speed and only very late 1850's('68-69) had the 3 spd option. Are you planning on using the tractor around the farm or show or both? As previously mentioned the T is a very easy tractor to drive and manuverable The extra traction with the mfwd is nice but be aware it takes quite a bit more space to turn around. Whats the price for the T? There was a good running but somewhat rough looking T on a farm sale in my area that sold for $3,600 last summer.

Any MFWD are good merchandise but I have seen a lot of 1850 MFWD. I would go with the 1950-T. Not much cooler than good 1950-T in my opinion. You don't see many of them. Smooth snappy power. They are turbo charged. If diesel engine is not two stroke or turbo charged I lose interest pretty quick.

Has rough cab,but metal on tractor is straight(1950T). Could be had for 4500 with set of duals. It runs good.

Mfwd would make the 1850 a easy choice for me if it's priced reasonable and isn't competely shot. Especially If you want to use it. I like 1950-T's too grew up on one and just bought another one to fix up some day.

i would go with the 1950t! if you decide not to i would be interested in it to match my red one. Going to start on it soon!
