What tractor in the Oliver line is similar to a G-1000 MM?? There is one down here thinking about saving with from the gas axe, it has a diesel in it?? Does the g1000 have the same rear end as a 1850 or 1950 etc?? How about the hydra shift and hydra powers, do they interchange as well and the input shafts and couplers???

Horsepower wise between an 1850 and 1950. They did not share any technologies with Oliver at that point. All MM components in that G1000.

There was never a production of like tractors for MM and Oliver during the G1000 production years. The Oliver 1855 and the MM G940 were the same tractor with different paint as was the Cockshutt 1855. Oliver tractors badged as MM and Cockshutt were:

Oliver 1555= MM G550= Cockshutt 1555
Oliver 1655= MM G750= Cockshutt 1655
Oliver 1755= MM G850= Cockshutt 1755
Oliver 1855= MM G940= Cockshutt 1855

That said I would assume you are looking at a MM G940,maybe. With out a picture I am just guessing. According to Tractor Data.com the MM G940 and the Oliver 1855 share all parts and mechanicals.
When I farmed in the 1960's I occasionally used my neighbors G1000 Vista and it was a nice medium powered tractor and would pull my 18' AC wheel disc in plowed ground very nicely.
Jim Jensen at http://tractorshop.com/articles/mm.html gives a very nice perspective of his years ,which were numerous, of the Minneapolis-Moline Co.

From your post on the MM site I see your question in a different light. Anything can be done but the G1000 is 100% MM with no Oliver common parts. If you want to save the ole girl buy a good running 504 MM and put it in there.I know where a young man started to put a Detroit in a Vista and he is now old and it still aint done !

Thanks for the replys, I remember it had some kind of torque amplifier or overdrive seems like, have not seen it for years, it has huge paired up heads in the giant block with that crazy platform, I dont know what the actual model is the paint is all faded, it might be a vista, does anybody know what bellhosings the MM used in this model, any chance it might be a SA#2 or SAE#3 that would take a cummins conversion?? I going to go back by and try to find the sn and get some picturess, thanks for the replys

If it turns out to indeed be a G1000 keep in mind that some time in the early production run of this tractor the number crunchers at MM decided to have cheaper, inferior rear axle bearings installed which after numerous failures a recall was made to replace these bearings with what was originally engineered or the equivlent that would be longer wearing. Another note: Some dealers offered a power upgrade with the MM 800 Engine. These were completly balnced,Lp fueled with RPM jacked up and furnished 600-700 HP to who ever ordered the conversion. The drive train had to be right to stand this stress. This info comes from Jim Jenson who was a long time sales associate at MM. Before you scrap the engine do some checking to see what you have. If this tractor turns out to have the hyd/electrical and transmission design of an Oliver 1855 it has to be a MM G940. Post us a picture if you can.
