Checking numbers on friends 770

My friend has a 770 it should be 1963 year.
Model number 37-1907
Serial number 131 061-735
Numbers on block above starter
185 220-F
104306A
He has just finished painting and is haveing trouble getting the right stickers for the side panels the first stickers he got looked like those on a 1600.
Thanks

I don't have the serial number in my head but 1963 is went they went to the style of decal you mentioned + the plastic checkerboard grill. A true 1963 tractor will not be like the one in the picture. So do you have a serial number?

Serial # checks as a '63 . Picture is of a typical '63-'64 770 checkerboard .Weeks photo.

Article in 'Oliver Heritage' June/July 2006 says that 1600-style and egg-crate/checkerboard grill began with serial 141 900 (1964 models).
So I stand by my earlier post.

My 770 is a 63 and does not have the checker board grill its like the picture Tramway Guy post except mines a wide front.
But I sure like the looks of the later fenders and the checker board grill maybe that should be my next winters project.

Yeah, except the article was written by Sherry Schaefer who normally researches stuff pretty well. And her family owned a dealership for many years.
I tried to find something in the AGCOpartsbooks.com books, but they don't show the newer style grille. They do imply that after serial 141900, the power steering was fully hydraulic. That would seem to fit in with a remodel of the 770 for the 1964 model year. I would say that there is consensus that the decals were changed to the spears at the same time the grill was changed to the egg-crate style. So if yours does not have the egg-crate grill, then your decals would be the older style.

I did some searching after I posted last night and the 770's like the one in John Harmon's post were listed as 1964. On a side note, my friend bought his paint at an Agco dealer, the clover white looks like it might be tinted green or it could have been the light in his shed. What year did the 3 digits change from white numbers on a black background to the all white numbers? My 880 has the white on black and is 1961 is that what is listed as early 3 digit decals?
Thanks for your time.

I have a 1963 770 and the operators manual has a picture of the tractor in the front. The operators manual is dated 1963. The picture is exactly as trammy guy described. The later model 63 may have started the transition, but my serial numbers are very close to this one and I would say the standard front and clam shell fenders are correct. I also gave the serial numbers to Lyle Dumont and he verified the decals. I think he should have a pretty good idea what decals go on an Oliver.
Hope this helps
