310 Diesel Max Cubic Inches?

Several of us got to talking at a pull over the weekend. The discusssion came to wanting to see some other brands besides IH and John Deere, with an occasional Case or Ford. The Oliver has a max of the 310 diesel Waukesha besides the V8 Cat. How big can a 310 Diesel be made and still hold up? This is for farm class, 11,000 or 13,000 pounds. We were not talking about Cummins conversions, only factory installed engine.

Another option, how light can a 2255 Oliver get with the stock type transmission and tub, not putting the Cat engine in a 1850 trans or something.

For farm stock no cummins, how about the hercules 478 cubes and will not be a problem in a stock class. Other options but not good ones in my opinion is a 426 waukeshau but that isn't cheap, but will stay with the others. One more is to use the MM motors in farm stock they would probably hold up decently. As for the cat they would definitely work in farm stock but remember they weren't offered with turbo, work really well in N/a class. I have a tub bolted to an 1800 rear if needed.
