4 digit weights- bolt locations

Now that I'm a homeowner, I'm feeling a bit more motivation to mount my truck plow to a tractor, and I think it'd be fun ot have it on my 1600. The trouble is that I want to keep the weights on the front, but they don't have the holes drilled/tapped in them like the later ones, like on our 1855.

I would just look look at the weight on the 1855, but that'd mean I had to remove the 4 slabs from the front to measure the spacing and location.

Can anyone help? I probably won't get it all done this winter, but I want to see if I can pull the starter weight off sometime to get the holes drill/tapped in it to start making some brackets to hang the plow from.

If Shep is still hanging around I would ask to see some close up pictures of how you did the mounts, or anyone else for that matter...

For now, a snowblower is working, I just want to have more fun doing it...

I would love to trade starter weights. I want the one without holes to put on my 1600 to make it original. The only problem I see is that I'm in southern Indiana and you're in Wisconsin. Maybe we can meet at a show or sale.

Your looking at way too much work there Don, just get a starter weight with holes in it. I have sold many, and if you want one with the holes in it, I know of one I can get. It would just be the matter of getting it to you.

Being a machinist, it really isn't much work for me. I've access to the proper tooling and equipment to do the job. The other way I could go, would be to make a bracket that bolts to the frame under the weights.

That might be the way to go too, because then I would still be keeping the weight original. Being that it's been painted at the same time as the 1600 was, it's the same paint, with the same hardener in it.

Still thinking how I want to do this thing... Like I said, it probably won't happen this year, but I've got a renewed interest. I also would like to get a weatherbrake to mount on that one as well. Probably order it right from Femco.

Would a 1955 have same pattern ? I removed mine when I mounted endloader. I think it had 1 slab, 1 round, 2 rectangle (with indentations). I could take pictures if you think they would be the same!!

like wise I would buy one too and save that one as I think those are for the hundred series. now if you still want dimensions or pics I can get them I have several of all weights around here.

Yeah, I am still hanging around every once and a while. We are still fighting trying to get the last of the corn and the beans off, and breaking down every chance we get.

I have some pictures of the plow on the 1655, but dont have them on this computer, so let me try to get you some pictures tonight or tomorrow and post them for you.

Like the others have said, it is probably best to get a starter block with the holes in it and then you can bolt the cylinder right to the front weights. I can tell you from pushing snow with the 1655 you are going to want all the weights up there if you are running the plow at an angle. In heavy snow it will shove the front of the tractor away from the angle.

I will get you some pictures Don.

whats wrong with the snowblower in my area blade arent whole lot goood once the snow fills ditchs in you can't push it far enough when it get pickup door high in both ditches blower only way to go here to get thru.otherwise you need grader large vplows and speed to make it throw. Course if you have no cab thats horrible with a blower.

I'm talking about a 27" walk behind, not a 3 point mounted one hanging on the back. If I had one of those, I still might be tempted to mount the plow on the front. Trouble there would be if the snow blower needed hydraulics for the spout. Then I'd need 3 remotes and the plow on front will need both for the raise/lower and the angle.

Was tempted to buy a 3 pt. blower to hang on the back of our 1855 last year that had the Hyd. spout. I would've used it to clear some of my brother's snow removal accounts when it got too deep for his truck & plow (he had to call in the neighbors once or twice w/ their blower). The blower was gone before I got a chance to look at it again (listed pretty cheap on craigslist) so it never went any further. Plus I didn't have the money either...

Now I have to clear my snow either way. I'd still keep the blower, but I'd like to be able to plow it back too.
