Oliver engine questions

I am going to start looking for either a donor engine for my Super 88 or a rod and weld up the block, and I don't have a parts book yet, still looking! Are the bottoms of the Oliver gas and diesel engines the same? I know the heads are different, and pistons and sleeves, but what about the rods and cranks? Blocks different? I found a very cheap 88 diesel rod. The motor I had my finger on is freeze cracked in a couple places and it's now stuck because the dingbat left it outside and figured a bucket was good enough over the exhaust but forgot about the intake!!!!!!

The bottom ends and basic blocks of Super series gas and diesel are the same....but some of the added items like the front plate and cover were different. But a bare block can be used for either, as long as you start with them side-by-side and make sure you transfer everything to the new block.
An 880 block would work also.
