Oliver tractor cummins repowers??

Just got 2 dead Oliver tractors, one is a 1650 and one is a 1750, I want to convert them to 3.9 or 5.9 cummins and need hard core swap info, I found a repower kit for $2500 but it needs a oliver bellhousing from a 1850 with a perkins, who has done one of these and where do you get the parts to do it yourself, i have installed a 3.9 cummins into my powerwagon and am excellent part scounger, I tried sheps site but its down, i need pictures and actual part numbers with phone numbers and prices, thanks in advance for any help!!

http://www.agrepower.com/olcoki.html Takes 3 weeks and you still need the 1850 oliver bellhousing from a perkins model which i have no idea if its available or could be bypassed for some other way to get it hooked up??? Are you doing one into what model????

Here are pics of the 1650 repower I'm doing right now. It's likely more involved than what you want to do, but I hope it helps. If you peck around on my photobucket site, you will also find the 2-135 repower I did.

This is a very nice job you are doing on this coversion. I must say you are very sharp on the maching of these parts. I would be interested in purchasing one of those hitches once you complete the pattern.

I have the bell housing you need. If you would like to look at a tractor just repowered with a Perkins [ my choice] I have one here that I'm fixing to send to the paint shop. The Cummins is a very good engine! But for the money and durability the Perkins can't be beat. I'm located near Goliad Texas just north of you.

That's awesome! I'd love to total restore a tractor like that, but it's that four letter word I don't have - time. You've got my respect! Good luck as always.

I gotta say that's gonna look really nice when it's done. Would be worth a little write up I would think. If I could ever find a cummins when I have a little cash in my pocket, I might consider doing something like you are doing.

So far I've never done anything quite that cool, but I do enjoy machining and being able to apply what I know to the farm.

How much for the housing??? Do you have any other parts for sell, am looking for a wide front end for the tricycle i have and a cab as well, thanks for the reply, do you live any where around Mr Freeman Lots old ranch???

We keep everything on the shelf to convert a dodge truck engine (worst case scenario) to a oliver engine on the shelf. Cummins can make it difficult for the dealers, if your warehouse does not have it on the shelf, you either have to emergency order it and pay a 20% premium, or wait 2-3 weeks. we chose to keep it in stock, and we sell enough that our warehouse decided they should do the same thing. Just finished up a 1955, Tried a new manifold/turbo location that very much simplified the turbo plumbing and air cleaner clearance issue. Intake and exhaust comes out factory holes in the hood. I've done 3 1650's. the first 2 used balanced 4bt's, the 3rd one got a 6bt. I'll never even consider putting a 4bt in one again. It's actually more work to put a 4bt in, and the 6b is a way smoother engine. No comparison. I should take time to take pictures.

Hey BM: I have a 2270 White, same as 2-150 just older (585 engine)that may be wanting a different engine. Have you ever come across what needs to be done in order to fit either a 5.9 or 8.3 onto the short tub these tractors have? You can send e-mail direct if you like. Bruce

E, can you give us a parts list of what exactly is required and where to source it, I never see any mention of exactly what clutch, what disc, what throw out bearing, what motor mount, what flywheel, what bell housing and what pto is used in any of these conversions??

Where did you buy your parts from?? Is there anyway to buy used stuff out of comparable tractors to save from buying the brand new cummins stuff?? Do you know if the flywheel housing and clutch housing is sae 2 or 3 and could it be the same as in a Freightliner aka 60 or 80?? There are aftermarket cummins bell housings and clutch housings specific for the 5.9 for sale, they are like $300 each brand new chinese. Do you have any coment on why some say it is easier to mount a 5.9 six into the 1650 instead of the 4 cylinder 3.9 cummins??? Is it because where the motor mounts go the tub does not have to be machiined?? Another question I have is what hydra drive do u have a 3 speed or 2 speed and how did you handle pto hub source, can u use the 1650 one or does it have to be aquired as well and from where???

Bruce,
I've had a few guys ask about doing those tractors, a 8.3 would work better lengthwise, but it's gonna eat your 3 speed and transmission. honestly the easiest thing to do would be to use a different frame so the engine would set in. then if you want to keep your factory sheel metal there's gonna be some length issues. it could be done, but you would unbolt at the front of the transmission and completely re-invent the front half of the tractor.

I never liked using the term "kit" since every one is different, but yes, we supply the parts to repower Oliver and White tractors.

It's hard to shoot prices without knowing all the details. But for example, other companies offer a "partial kit", Partial Kit includes: engine mounts, engine flywheel, flywheel housing, PTO Hub. Our price on these parts is 1409.00. This in not by any means all the parts you will need, just a example.

Have a tub and wfe off of a 2-105 and have the housings off the perkins for the white don't need them for the massey.

Here is a link to Sheps I think old website minus the pics alas, it is archived on the web from 2006 back, lots of good tech and of course Shep is still alive and kicking and helping others to install cummins, lots of good tech here if you read between the lines I guess you will have to cut and paste that link into your google search toolbar to get it to load, thanks all that are interested in cummins repowered olivers, i am still waiting on getting my 2 tractors home as it rained 8 inches where they are and am scared of sticking the haul truck and or tractors!! E, can you expand on what the problems were with the mounts on the 3.9 install you did, why did you have to mill the frame, did you use factory stock mounts or did you make your own? If you were to convert another 1655 would you rather use a 5.9 instead due to the milling issue??? I am still trying to contact the 2 people near me in Karnes City and Golaid but no phone or email from them so far, if anybody has there no please email me at [email protected]
