looking for help on A 310 gas engine.would like to make 150 horses wile apearing stock as possiable?I no it wont be cheep thank in advance.
 
plane the head, send the intake maifold to extrude hone in irwin,pa, www.extrudehone.com, forget the flywheel timing marks, make your own timing pointer for the front pulley and set the timing @ 34 degrees before tdc at 3000rpm and have competition cams regrind your cam for that rpm.
 
It depends on how far you want to go. Unless you build a bigger motor,I'm not sure if there is much benefit to porting the head or manifold. I would consider matching the ports and having some one do some clean up porting on the manifold and low lift flow work on the head. If you want to spend a bit more, I would consider machining the block and installing sleeves to run 4.25" bore ((370 cubes) or maybe 4 3/8" (390 cubes) Stroking is also a possibility. Airflow modifications (porting, larger valves, higher ratio rocker arms, modified or larger carb, reground cam)would follow.
