88 oil pressure too high

I just finished my piston and sleeve install in my 88 and fired it up for the first time today. It runs great! I replaced the oil filter base because the restrictor disk was gone. Now the oil pressure is to high.... completely pegged the oil pressure gauge at idle. How could i solve this problem?

I think that is where you want it. my 77s oil pressure is like you described. it should be in the working range at idle

put a pressure gauge on it see what you got pressure relief may be stuck it is on r side front lower corner of block behind plug should have 14-18 psi at high idle with engine at operating temp.
