Hi everyone, I am looking for information on the model 18 pull type combine, I just picked up one for $100 and want to restore and use it. What I want to know 1. Horsepower requirements, 2. setup suggestions from those who are experienced with this model. If anyone has a operators manual and shop manual for one that they want to get rid of, please let me know. My email is [email protected]

You mean one like this.  This one has a 770 Diesel on it.  The literture shows it powered by a 550.

too small of a tractor/no live pto will teach you real quick not to feed green weeds to it. you will learn how to kick the trans out of gear real quick
50 hp will burn the belts off of it when it feeds green weeds
brother has one in central ohio for sale unless it is gone already
should be able to get books for it from the museum
good machine to learn on

Well, ive got a 66 wide front that is cranking 35 1/2 hp. If i cant run it with that, which i probably cant, i think im gonna have to use my dads 77. Thats why i got it though. 1 Oliver pull types are kinda rare and 2 I wanted to learn with it, and im shure it will be quite an experience.

We pulled ours with a Super 88 gas. I agree with the green weeds. I unchoked ours many a time.

that 66 will run it fine when everything is perfect
green weeds do not feed thru the 18, avoid them or just barely inch thru them and cuss alot
