1600 Hydra Power

1600 Puller

The last time I used the hydra power, I tried shifting into low range and the tractor stopped. Put it back into high and it drove away. The oil was warm and a little low so I changed it and it seems to work okay, but haven't been able to test it under a load. Could it be just the warm oil that was low (hopefully) or is it like I'm afraid of, and is probably more serious? Thanks

Classic sign of a sprag(one way clutch) wearing out. It will slip in low more frequently and will need replaced. Low range is a sprag clutch and direct is a clutch pack.

Watch your oil level and see if it gets low quickly or more regular. If not it might just be that it was low but if it does it probably has a seal bad somewhere. I'm going through that too but mine is stuck in low, which I guess would be good as that means it at least does work. :) I'll keep posting as I learn more also.
