I purchased an Oliver model 5 single row corn picker a few months ago...now just cleaning and repainting it to use...still has the original tires...overall decent shape..I only pick under 10 acres of corn for feed so I can get by with a less expensive unit....had an old AC till it was just shot...

What years were these made??
Any particular problems??
I think serial number was around 114000..
Thanks

The model #5 Picker was first built from 1950 to 1962 in Oliver's plant in Battle Creek, MI, Then from 1963 to 1969 in Shelbyville, IL, then from 1963 to 1972 in South Bend, IN.   The model #5 was then sold to United Farm Tools.

If your serial number is 114000 it was built in 1956 in Battle Creek, MI.   Havn't had any experience with the #5, I can't tell you about the good or bad, couldn't have been too many bad things or they wouldn't have built them that long.

40 Years ago they were probably the most popular corn picker in this area. Look it over good: Check the gearboxes for oil, make sure all the chains are adjusted: contact the museum and order an operators manual

thanks
serial number was actually 111,000 ..last 3 cant remember..
i will contact the museum...found the website...
