Good day, I have a 51 E4 that is very stuck. I cannot get it to budge. I am wondering if i can put a G262 out of a gleaner combine in there. Does anyone know about this? What changes will i have to do? Will this provide more horsepower? ANy and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Its a fairly easy swap. I did it with my 40 this winter. You need the rear plate, front timing cover and backing plate to drop it in. You"ll use the oil pan also off you E-4. You"ll be using your tractor governor setup also. I used the combine manifold and carb. You"ll have to rework some throttle linkage. Any other questions just e-mail me. Hope this helps.

Does it have good power? You had to change to timing cover? You used all of those parts off of the tractor and put on the combine engine correct? Was the water pump the same? I'm sorry i'm not real familiar with these coops but I think there pretty neat so any in detail or pics you could give me would be very very appreciated! THank you so much!!

You can use the same water pump, but you will have to cut the radiator shield near the top some.

You will have to changed the time cover. I also switched the valve cover, but that's not big deal.

Did you get a lot more horsepower out of doing that? pretty easy swap then I take it? You had to cut the radiator shroud?

Water pump on 262 is different so you can use water pump from your 230 and not have to cut radiator, use front plate & rear plate from your 230.262 will have screw on oil filter and that is about the only difference in the engines except the 262 will have about 20 or 25 more horse power.

The 230 water pump will bolt directly on the 262? Flywheel and everything is the same? Sounds like a pretty easy sway then. I bet those tractors really pull with that bigger motor.

I didn't put a 262 in mine, I have a 230 G the original is the 230B. I had to use the original flywheel of the 230B. And yes the oil pan off the 230B was used.

I believe the oil pan didn't line up correctly due to the timing cover on the front. The valve cover had a another vent on it and wanted to keep the original looking one. The only reason I changed engines was I cracked the block on the other. I don't pull with the tractor or anything like that.
I had it on a dyno it put out about 55.
