Golden Jubliee will NOT run

I have a 1953 ford golden Jubliee with the ford 4 cyl with distributor on the side. My tractor would not run so I put new plugs, wires, points, condenser, distributor cap and rotor button on it. It is really hard to start but will start for a minute but has no power at all. I set the points at .025 and gapped the plugs at the same. Can someone please tell me what to check next. Thank you

The first thing I would check is to see if I have spark on each spark plug and if it is blue/white. A spark plug checker would be good for this, but if you know what you are looking for it is not necessary (in my opinion). The next thing I would check for is gas flow out of the bottom plug of the carb. Should run a nice steady stream for as long as the plug is out. Be sure the gas is turned on a couple of turns and there is at least two gallons in the tank. Checking these two items first will tell you where to go next. Assuming battery is fully charged, no or bad spark could be coil, wiring, or key switch. Fuel flow problems could be plugged up screens in sediment bowl or carb. Also old gasoline, or water in gasoline could be causing your problem. Timing could also be problem, but I assume tractor had been running before, and you hadn't misadjusted it. If you still can't get her to run, get back on the board and the real experts will surely help you get her running again real soon.

Tell us a little more, how long have you had the tractor, when was the last time it ran good.
Finding out the tractors pasted is important .

I have had the tractor for a year now. It has ran good up until November. I also put a new deferment bowl on it and cleaned the tank. Seems to be getting plenty of fuel.

I have recently put a sediment bowl on and cleaned the tank. The fuel flow seems to be good. I will check the spark when I can get back from work. The key switch seems to be hanging when trying to start the tractor

Pull the carb drain and check fuel flow anyway. Something changed. Check everything.

You changed the cap and wires right?
Verify that the wire going to #1 spark plug is plugged into the
distributor cap where the rotor points when #1 cylinder is on
top dead center of compression stroke.
Regardless of where that is on the cap.
Then verify firing order 1-2-4-3 Clockwise.

If that's all good I would run a compression test. Free to do.

As Mdparrot and MikeOH said, you need adequate fuel flow. I will say a little more specifically that it needs to be good for at least 45 seconds. So as Mike OH said remove the plug on the bottom of the carb and make sure that it CONTINUES to flow for 45 seconds.

if it has good spark, and air.. and starts but runs weak.. check fuel. choke or starter fluid can help diagnose.
