8n hydraulic lift not working

When I pull down on the hydraulic control lever on my 8n to raise my 3 point lift bars the control shaft has play and slips out from the connection on the top cover. If I push the lever towards the seat and hold in the 3 point system engages and lifts. Can I fix this by taking bolts out from the flange connecting control shaft to top cover or is this internal?

Sounds like you need a new friction disc.

When I pull out on the control lever the entire control shaft moves away from the control cover a 1/2 inch or more. When the shaft pull away from the cover it will not lift but when pushed back in it lifts. The distance between friction disc and the hydraulic control quadrant increases by 1/2 inch or so when the shaft pulls out. It seems to fall into a slot when pushed in and becomes very loose while the shaft is pulled away from the flange entering the control cover.

I pulled the hydraulic lift cover today and I didn't see what I thought I might find. The hydraulic control shaft pushes into the linkage inside the hydraulic lift cover. What keeps the sh aft from having play to slide inward? Could it be the, friction disc and the spring washer is missing? After removing the hydraulic cover I observed a load of slime and gunk all over and around the hydraulic pump. Any advice how to remove or wash thing clean inside the hydraulic box?

The spring washer and nut on the outside of the shaft keeps it from moving towards the inside of the cover. Is your spring washer and nut in place?
