1958 861 powermaster. went to crank her up today for the first time in several months...plenty of juice in the battery..turned over, but didnt start. definitely getting fuel and air to the carb. i feel like its not getting any fire. i used a basic tester to check, im getting juice through the coil and into the distributor and thats where things are going wrong. im thinking about buying the ignition kit from this site that includes the points, rotor and condensor along with a new cap. Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

(quoted from post at 20:11:49 01/03/17) Points corrode when tractors sit for months between starts.
That's the truth. I've owned a 871 for 37 years, and, no matter how clean the inside of the distributor is and how well maintained the points, rotor and cap are, I still end up cleaning the points once or twice a year. Tractor sits in the barn in the winter and condensation seems to be the problem. 5 minutes with my wife's hairdryer and a quick lick with some emory paper on the points, though, and it takes right off.
