12 volt conversion.

Received the conversion kit for my second 8n. I came across a free good 12 volt battery that fits so figured it was time to modify it.
Kit from our hosts on here, the first one I installed was simple and no hassle, works like a champ and the i wire alt starts charging as so as she starts.
Now all I need is some warmer weather to work on it. we here in western Oregon are going into a cold spell.

I would like to take time to wish all on this forum a Happy New Year!!

thank u, sir, and right back atcha :)

may everyone have a happy, prosperous, and, most importantly, healthy new year.

Both my Jubilee and Farmall C were converted to 12v before I
bought them. After both tractors stripped off two starter
drives, I decided to buy a 12v starter for Jubilee. No 12v
starter was available for Farmall C. So that's when I installed
an old lawn mower battery in Farmall. Been working for 4 years
and haven't damaged starter drive. That may not work for you.
Farmall has a mag, so no issue with making a hot spark using a
160 cca battery.

The last time I lost starter drive on Jubilee, it also chipped
a tooth on starter ring. No way did I want to split tractor to
replace ring. So I bought 12v starter from YT.

Many will say you can use a 6v starter on 12v conversion. Yes
it will work. I fished out of bellhousing using a magnet,
parts to 8 starter drives. Hard to say how many other starter
drive parts are still in there. So it will work, but do you
want to take a chance. You may have better luck with starter
drive, if your engine is worn out. Both my engines were rebuilt
and have good compression.
