Late model 8N carburetor

Friend has late model 8N, distributor on the side of the engine. The carburetor is all messed up. Not all carburetor kits are good ones, as I have found with my IH tractors.
Please suggest a good kit for the 8N, brand and part number, if possible.

There are two M/S rebuild kits available, one is a basic kit with not many parts, the other has most of the new parts but is twice the price -that's the one you want.

Tim, they've updated the parts list since you looked.
YT now lists three different kits for a 241 besides the gasket set.
That "comprehensive" kit comes with the choke and throttle
butterflies, a drain valve and the screened elbow.
Don't usually have to replace the butterflies.

I like to buy the complete kit also.
Usually I don't have to buy any extra parts that way.
Bad part is sometimes I order multiple C546V kits and
they come from different manufacturers. A&I or Tisco
for example. Different packaging. One has all the parts
the other does not. Same part number, same source.

The multiple suppliers concerns me a bit. No assurances that all of them have the same quality. I have had some kits for other tractor brands where the new throttle shaft was 0.003 smaller than the old one, for just one example.
But the reported good results from previous users is encouraging.
