I wanted to take a second to thank the regulars on here for all the help over the last few months. With your help, I have a beautifully running '52 8N. I have rebuilt the carb, put electronic ignition on her, replaced rear axle shafts and hubs and done general maintenance.

I currently only have a back blade and a draw bar attachment along with a 2 gang set of drag discs. But use it to maintain my 1/8th mile driveway and opened up a large garden for next year.

With the little things I have done so far, I have a 64 year old tractor that starts as if it was fuel injected, has great oil pressure and idles so smoothly that I swear the 400 RPM idle speed could go even lower without her stalling.

Again thanks to the experts for great advice! I hope everyone else appreciates the advice too.

75 Tips

Bruce,

Yes. My proofmeter was not working when I bought the tractor so I bought a new one just so I can't keep track of hours. I plan on keeping this tractor as long as I live (will be 33 this week) and I want to give it a good home while I have it. I may not be my last/only tractor but it is my first and I don't plan on getting rid of it.

Your 75 tips are something that everyone should read before asking a question on here. Very comprehensive list.

Again that you for the help!

Nice sentiment; keeping it as long as you
live.
Yes, they are marvelous little tractors.
Just don't make it the only tractor you ever
own. As many of us here have discovered, the
Ns were only the first of the little Fords.
But every successive generation of tractors
Ford built was cooler, more capable and
ultimately more marvelous than the ones
before it. Jubilees, Hundreds, Thousands -
there is a lifetime of learning, tinkering
and fun in front of you if you want it.

You're welcome.

UD is right; if you like your 8N, you will
positively love a 100 series. I've got 4
8N's and a 740. The 740 pulls the subsoiler
and cuts grass while the N's do the light
work.
