Starting a 841 after sitting for 10 years..

A few months ago, I bought a 1961 or 62 Ford 841. The previous owner used it at a funeral home to move monuments that they used to sell and for snow removal. He stated that he last operated it 10 years ago. It was stored inside, but has been out for the last couple of months at my place. I removed some rat's nest out from under the hood but that's it.

My question is what should I do first? Change fluids?...oil the cylinders... I want to convert to 12 volt, should I do that before I try to get it running? Otherwise I need to buy 2 batteries.

No need to buy two batteries. I would put ATF in the cylinders and check to see if the engine is free. If so you can attempt to start it. Put
a 12 volt battery in it and see if it will turn over. You can then see if it will run. If it runs then warm it up and change all the fluids.
Then do the rest of the 12 volt conversion - alternator and coil.

Update*****With questions.....

I did oil the cylinders and turned it over with 12 volt battery. Oil pumped into filter everything seemed good. I continued turning it over with the intent to prime the engine of oil. When I was ready to try and start it the starter jammed.

I assumed that the starter went bad, so I bought a new one. I jammed the new starter up too. I tried to fix that and then after, I just bought a new starter gear.

Tonight I put the new starter gear on the original 6 volt starter and then jammed up the replacement starter gear...what gives?

what happened? The engine was turning over just fine now I'm jamming starters....? Any advise would be appreciated...

How much oil did you put in the cylinders and how long did you turn it over without spark plugs in the head if at all?

You could be hydraulically locking the cylinders by having oil in the cylinders and spark plugs in the holes.
