uhaul car transport for 8N

I am thinking about buying another 8N as a parts tractor. It has no compression on cylinders 2 & 3 and from what I have read here that probably is a head gasket. Plugs looked like they had wet mud on them too so that seems reasonable. Anyway, it won't start, I was thinking that I need something low to the ground to haul it on. Does anybody know if I would be able to haul in on a uhaul auto transport trailer? The weight is within limits, but not sure about the wheel base/width.

You can haul it JUST DO NOT tell U Haul what you are hauling. It has been reported here a lot of times, that as soon as you say tractor, they end the rental.

I did it once - no problem. It is true about keeping
the tractor hush hush part. I can't remember what I
told them I was hauling maybe an old mustang or
something. They will ask.
The one I rented did not have a complete flat
surface. It had the troughs for the wheels to sit in.
Luckily it worked width wise.
Somewhere on this site I believe was an article on
safe "trailering". Remember best case scenario is to
back it on.

I've rented a u-haul auto carrier trailer a couple times to haul my 8n. Fits perfect width wise and has nice pull out ramps. Not sure how you will load your tractor if it's not running and you can' drive it on. And yes they will ask what you are hauling. I tell them a 2000 Ford Focus. Works every time.

Just use a come along and take your time loading it , chock it and tie it down with cargo straps, don't go fast and brake nice and easy. You will be fine.

I just picked up another '52 8N. I rented a Uhaul 6'x12' double axle utility trailer. No questions and it was about half the cost of a car hauler. It had a 6' wide tail gate. Some of them have a ramp or tailgate that's 4'-9" wide, which is too narrow.

I used a car hauler before and had to go through all kinds of convincing that it would work.

From now on I'll use a trailer.

U-Haul wants to look up the weight of the vehicle you are transporting and then look up the towing capacity of the vehicle you are hauling it with and make sure you are safe and legal.

If you have an equipment rental shop near your they usually have trailers for rent that are a bit better. Local place by me also rents compact kubotas and mini excavators. They have trailers with electric brakes which I prefer over hauls 'surge' brakes. They don't care what you put on the trailer... Even Gaul their own tractors on them. Price for me has been cheaper too. Last year I rented a 16' for $59/day.

1/2 of the Gail trailers I've pulled just don't pull right.

When the gasket blows tween the cylinders it does not induce wet mud on the spark plugs...

Worst case buy it at salvage price you will save him the exspence of hauling it off his self..

Remember to make a profit you work on a 2% mark up.

Buy it for a dollar and sale it for $2 = 2% :D
