Rebuilt hydraulic pump and lift cover

The last two days I pulled the lift cover from my 48 8N. Lift cover control rod was bent, cam follower pin was worn and piston rings were leaking. I replaced everything needed and moved to the pump.

Relief valve fell apart when I took it out and both control valves wer very sticky. Could have had something to do with the 2 inches of sludge in the bottom. Replaced needed items and spent much time thoroughly cleaning out the sump. Everything back together filled with oil and everything work like new! I was very happy with the result.

Thanks for all the knowledge I have absorbed from this site. Without the help I found here I would not have even tackled the job.

Here's a picture of Henry in all his patina glory.

That is one good lookin' old tractor. Yeah, I've never found a better site for technical info or a wider knowledge base on these things.

For future reference...

Actually, if you right click on sideways Henry and click "view image", it also will show Henry in his tires down pose.

That depends on what browser you are using.
On any of my Apple devices it was right side up anyway.
Probably the same on an Android device.
But on a PC running Windows, which many people use, it
was nose down. So I just rotated it an posted it back.
Not a big deal, just trying to help. :)

this is interesting. if u open the image in a new window, it displays tires down. this would seem to imply that the forum software itself is involved. the catch is, it displays it wrong in both classic and modern view.

It's not the forum software, it's the posting OS.
I've seen it so often I just rotate them and post them back.
If I edit them on my iPhone before posting, even if I don't
change the rotation, then they appear right for PC users.
Phone users and MAC users don't see any difference.
Before or after I rotate them. They look the same to them.

windows is involved, but it seems to me that there's more to it than that. if i access the URL of the image directly, i see the image with the proper orientation. if i access it thru the forum software, it displays wrong. what is the difference between these two scenarios? it's not the operating system ;)

and, since most images display with proper orientation even in windows, i wonder what the common thread is among the ones that come out wrong.
