The last two days I pulled the lift cover from my 48 8N. Lift cover control rod was bent, cam follower pin was worn and piston rings were leaking. I replaced everything needed and moved to the pump.
Relief valve fell apart when I took it out and both control valves wer very sticky. Could have had something to do with the 2 inches of sludge in the bottom. Replaced needed items and spent much time thoroughly cleaning out the sump. Everything back together filled with oil and everything work like new! I was very happy with the result.
Thanks for all the knowledge I have absorbed from this site. Without the help I found here I would not have even tackled the job.
Here's a picture of Henry in all his patina glory.
