I have a problem with saying Happy Veterans Day. I don't see anything happy about it. I say enjoy Veterans Day because we are still alive. There are a lot of us that can't even do that. USMC Vietnam 67-68

Sincere thanks to all of our veterans.

Though never in the military myself, I learned respect for our veterans from my Mother who was an Army Nurse in the South Pacific in WWII.

Harold , Did you graduate from the Naval War College in 1985?

Thanks to y'all for serving. Took Dad to the Georgia War Veterans Home service today (he'll be moving in soon due to his advancing dementia). We watched a couple submarine movies this evening, and boy his memory is still sharp on the details on the boats!

He served from '49-'53, on the SS-447 (Congor) and SSR-312 (Burrfish, one of 10 radar picket subs converted from WWII fleet boats).

No. Must be another Harold Cooke. I was in the Army from 68 to 95. Stationed in Thailand, Ft Sam, Walter Reed, Ft Benning, and Ft Rucker. Finished up with 20 years in the reserves.

Thanks Harold. Just had to ask as there was a Harold Cooke that graduated ahead of me. I was in Thailand 69-70, Viet Nam 72-73, Then all over the place--Ft Eustis, VA, Pentagon, MILPERCEN, Ft Campbell (4 tours), Naval War College, Camp Darby Italy, Bosnia/Sarajevo, Heidelberg, Kaiserslautern, Bulford Camp England, Frankfurt, Ft Mcpherson, GA. Was a fast 30 years! Was an 11B in 1967, graduated from Engineer OCS in 1968 and the rest, as they say is history!!
