Ford 9N parts

I have a few really old parts I want to put on ebay. Would anybody care to estimate the value of these. If this is not allowed, please accept my apologies in advance. We sold the farm and my six Ford tractors and everything.

I have a Howard transmission with the control plate. There is some mild rust on the surface, but the gears are loose. I have a pair of fender dog legs from an early 9N, an early 9N air breather with the screen on top and cup on the bottom, a pre-filter with a long neck, but no glass jar and a Fordson tool box with three tools with Ford branding. There are some pictures here; more upon request.

I appreciate it very much. This group has always been good to me. My collection is gone, but not my love of Fords.

Not sure what happened to the pictures... Hoping that they are there on this post

I realize it has been a while since I have been on this site. But, I have been a member for over 15 years. My understanding is that this site is, by the rules, not for selling and buying. Unless that rule has changed, please do not ask me how much I am asking.

What I am asking for is honest valuations for these parts. When I have an assessment, I will put them on Craigslist and let everyone know.

Thank You!
Patrick

My understanding is that this site is, by the rules, not for selling and buying.

There's a classifieds section here so I assume selling and buying are allowed. I rarely see it in-thread however. Your craigslist ad isn't clear on what model N the Howard is for and it's my understanding it's either for an 8N OR a 2/9N due to differences.

Thanks for the input!
I need to find out how to know which N this is compatible to. I had always believed it was for an 8N, but, now, I am not sure.

3Any ideas?

Thanks for the additional picture, sure looks like mine in my 8n but hard to tell from pictures alone. Not sure why there would be any difference tho. the gears in yours look good from what I can see. Where in Oregon are you located? I am west of Portland.

this makes it sound like the 9, 2 8n are the same with a redesign for later machines.

Ok... I always thought that the 9, 2 and 8N were the same at the rear axle. This is where the Howard gear box would reside.

One of my 8Ns had a three position Sherman gear. But with that, the PTO maintains it's speed ratio with the engine RPM. The Howard does no effect the PTO.

Thanks for your help on this? Any idea of what you think it is worth? I have heard these can go for as much as a thousand bucks depending on the condition.

The valve will depend on how bad someone wants it, but I have heard up to a thousand also. That would mean that there were not chipped gears and good bearings. If you bearing are as rust as the rest of it, they may be bad and require replacement. can not tell from pictures. Solely based on the pictures I would not give you more than 500 for it.

Roger, Thank You for the help. I'll look into the bearings. No gears have chips in the teeth or are missing teeth. Once I have a chance to check it out, I'll get back to you.

No harm no foul, It is really Robert tho.

I have two 8n's and one of them has a Howard. I seldom use it but it really slows the tractor down. If a person wanted to run a tiller behind a 8n, it would be perfect. They are not two hard to install and there are directions on installing one on the web. really only have to drill two holes.
If it were mine and I was wanting to get max valve out of it, I would take it apart and clean it up real good.

And put new bearings in it while it's apart....
