starter switch

I thought it was a solonoid it is down behind the tool box has 2 big posts where the battery cables hook to, which is where I shorted across to get her started. It has been changed to 12 volt and elec. ignition. Pat. P.
 
Starter solenoid (not always mounted in starter) has to large connections and at least one small terminal:


Mechanical starter switch has only two large terminals:

 
Hey JMOR I see it all now, I need to start by getting the tool box out of the way and then that is the actual switch that I thought was the starter solenolid , Boy have You helped a bunch.. "Thanks Loads" Pat. P.

What is the significance of B on this picture? That's the ground?
